Why Enter?

The winner(s) of this award will have their research hypothesis expanded into a research article that will be published in The Journal of Impact & ESG Investing (JESG). In order to broaden their hypothesis, the winner(s) will have access to S&P Global's ESG, climate, and financial datasets which can be found below:

  • ESG Scores – Unlike any other ESG dataset available in the market today, S&P Global ESG Scores – and the CSA research process that underpins them – form the basis of a unique ecosystem that actively drives corporate disclosures and raises the bar on sustainability standards over time.
  • Physical Risk Asset Level Data – comprehensive data coverage and hyper-local insight on weather-related risks and trends across asset locations, investment portfolios and supply chains.
  • Trucost Environmental - The Trucost Environmental data measures environmental impact across key dimensions for over 15,000 companies.
  • S&P Global Physical Risk - Trucost's Physical Risk dataset assesses company exposure to physical risk at the asset-level based on a database of over 2 Million + assets mapped to 15,000+ listed companies in the S&P Market Intelligence database.
  • Trucost Paris Alignment - The Trucost Paris Alignment data assesses company-level alignment with the Paris Agreement goal to limit global warming to well below 2 degrees C from pre-industrial levels.
  • Trucost Carbon Earnings at Risk - Stress test a company’s current ability to absorb future carbon prices and understand potential earnings at risk from carbon pricing on a portfolio level.
  • Trucost EU Taxonomy Revenue Share – This dataset provides a granular assessment of the proportion of company revenues that are eligible for alignment with the sustainable business activities outlined in the EU Taxonomy.
  • Trucost Sovereign Carbon Exposure - The Trucost sovereign dataset allows investors to understand the carbon exposure linked to their investments in sovereign bonds, compare performance against a benchmark and report in line with voluntary and mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Compustat - Compustat Fundamentals provides standardized North American and global financial statement and market data for over 80,000 active and inactive publicly traded companies.
  • Business Entity Cross Reference Service (BECRS) - This service provides you immediate cross-reference capabilities for millions of public and private entities using standardized and proprietary identifiers.
Upon completion of the research article, it will go through a thorough peer review process from members of the JESG Editorial board who are highly respected thought leaders within the ESG sector, and a specialist from S&P Global Sustainable1. Once done, the article will then be published and promoted globally across both brand channels.
